A family, a department, and a state are left to carry a loss that should never have been theirs to bear. Trooper Daniel Shown died on February 27, 2026, after injuries suffered while answering a domestic disturbance and a request for backup in Lincoln City. He was 66 years old. The finality of that date cannot be separated from the simple fact that he went where help was needed—and did not come home.
