The loss of Deputy Sheriff Jeremy H. Cassady cannot be measured only by the date he died. It reaches back to the gunfire that nearly took him fifteen years earlier, to the long recovery that followed, and to the people who watched him endure what no public servant should have been asked to endure. On July 15, 2025, complications related to those line-of-duty gunshot wounds ended his life at age 50. Cassady served the Escambia County Sheriff's Office in Florida for six years.
