At a time when three suspects have already been arrested and charged for the violent downtown Cincinnati assault, a public official chose to celebrate the chaos. In cities run by progressive leadership, the rules are simple: criminals get sympathy, while victims are mocked. Law-abiding Americans are left wondering if anyone in power is actually on their side.
This is the consequence of soft-on-crime policies and virtue signaling masquerading as governance. When those elected to defend the community decide to mock victims, they reveal their true loyalties. It is not about justice or order. It is about political games and a twisted commitment to excusing the worst in our society.
While a few voices on the council tried to salvage some dignity, the damage was already done. Meeka Owens said, “making comments that inflame a violent incident is never acceptable.” Seth Walsh went further, declaring, “violence is violence, no matter what way you slice it, and as leaders, as anybody in society, we should be condemning any acts of violence.” These words ring hollow as long as officials like Victoria Parks are allowed to represent American citizens.
Parks has already announced she will not run for re-election, which is the only good news in this entire debacle. Her legacy will be another reminder of what happens when leftist politicians are handed the keys to America’s cities. Instead of focusing on law and order, the new standard is to excuse chaos and punish anyone who dares to stand for American values.
